Having major problems getting bad heater boxes off my 82 911sc...looks like I can use a sawsall to cut them off and then get at the studs...anyone ever done this?? Thanks Bill

yes you can. do a search on studs and heat exchanger removal. They tend to be very hard to get off without snapping the studs.
Soaking them with liquid wrench and other concoctions are recommended as well as heat. Get them cherry red, after a good couple of days of soaking, turn to the right first then slowly to the left......do your homework on how NOT to do it. Snapped studs are a beeeyotch.

Thanks...I have followed several articles...I didn't quite give up...but I'm putting stainless headers on and really don't need the old ones...they are really bad...Thanks

after you cut the exchanger off you can use a very sharp small chisel and strike the flat face of the nut after two or three hits the nut will split.

I cut off my rusty boxes one afternoon using a combo of metal shears and a cutoff wheel. Dirty work, but essentially easy. I then had 'factory headers'
