Porsche Crest Intensive washer reservoir

I've read most of the threads on this and I know I should be looking for a very small reservoir near the fuse block. I can't find it, but I have the switch for intensive wash on my dash.

Does anyone have a picture of this reservoir in its secret location?

Did Porsche install the switch but not the system in all cars? I thought it was standard equipment and not an option...

Thanks,
David

Probably should have been clearer...I have an 87. That part is for newer cars with headlight washers. I'm talking about the intensive washing system that dispenses a special fluid--I suppose for especially dirty windshields.

Your '87 has headlight washers, does it not? I know on an SC, anyway, the fluid for the windhield and headlight washers comes from the same place. Windshield pump is seperate from headlight pump, though.

I've never heard of the 'special smaller reservoir with special fluid", though. There's a reservoir under my hood that says "DOT-3" on it, that fluid will clean damn near anything.

Hi
I have the same system on my 87 930 the resivior is located by the LF shock tower kinda beside the brake MC resivior, its a high intensive cleaner to spray windows and headlights on a metred amount , you hit the switch and it will pump for 5 seconds or so and then shut off, bought some of the special solution from P and it was super expensive

Does it work? I mean does it do a good job of cleaning the windows and headlights?

911 628 027 00 is the part number for the reservoir. I think it has been discontinued so, if you want one, you'll have to find a used one. The intensve washer system was originally an option. I don't recall if it was ever made standard equipment.

The intent was this; for prolonged travel in rainy weather to be able to better clear the windshield. Porsche figured that a greasy film developed on a windshield in such conditions and the normal system wasn't able to properly clean it off. They used a special chemical that they called a silicone remover in the tank and it was sprayed in short increments (a second, or less) at a relatively high pressure. You were still supposed to do the main cleaning job with the standard system, using the special one only occasionally when the windshield seemed streaked.

Frankly, I have the system on several cars and never found it very useful. It solved a problem I never really had. Nowdays, I never drive the old cars in the rain anyway, so it's just one more thing that can leak and screw up what's in the trunk.

What Porsche sold for the system. "Porsche Special Silicone Remover." The part number is 928.628.931.00.

What if you are too cheap to buy Porsche stuff? Without naming names.

Mild dish washing liquid should work but it would foam up on the screen edges.

AMWAY used to make a soap called LSD (I think). It was a detergent but didn't make bubbles. Just an Idea.

I'm not sure.

Maybe there is something like carpet shampoo that does foam that you could use.

You can rent carpet shampoo/cleaners at my local supermarket and there you can buy detergent and other chemicals off the shelf. They have an anti suds chemical you put in the catch bucket for the muck you get out of your carpet.

I would be hesitant to try anything like that because of the potential to damage the paint on your car.

I'm guessing this would be useful for you living in Canada.

I was sort of kidding, if Amway makes something I will try it. I drive my car year round, so yea, it would be nice to have something good on there.

If anyone wants to buy the washer reservoir and 2-year-old working pump from my '86 Carrera, PM me.
