Rear reflector letters

The P O R S C H E lettering on my rear reflector is all washed out. Otherwise it's in great shape. Is there an easy or semi-easy way to recolor or paint the letters?

I am doing mine right now---I remembered this post--
unfortunately, with mine, the three center attachments are still on the car!and the end ones on the reflecter are gone--I guess a P.O had tried to prise it off at some time.---Now I have to remove the bumper to access the fasteners. I will be pleased if mine comes out as good as this one.[ Have you priced one lately?]

I'm pretty sure what you have there is a 87-89 rear reflector - the letters were not black. I'll bet it was changed out when the tail light lenses were changed from red to amber. Great looking car.

I researched the possibility (read: I looked on ebay)of having an 87-89 reflector and from what I can tell the later reflectors had smaller letters. So I guess the next time I'm under the car I'll pull the reflector and see what goes.... I kind of like the black vinyl idea.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions!

There are two styles of the older wide lettered lens. Clear lettering and black. The new style was clear and smaller.

Do you know for a fact that your lens had black lettering? It's hard to tell from your pic.

No clue how it was originally, just speculating... but the car only has 105k actual miles, or so the title says, for what that's worth. (I think all the vacuum lines are original anyway, they're all as crunchy as pretzels...jeez.) But anyway, I bought the car about a month ago as is, I'm probably 3rd or 4th owner, so who knows? I know the last PO didn't mess with it, don't think he owned even a screwdriver, except the one in the Porsche toolkit and I don't think he ever peeled the carpet back in the luggage compartment to know he owned that one.... This reflector may have been added along with the flares, the whaletail, and the paint job.... oh well, no point in further speculation.... I'll just change it to how I want it to be....

thanks again

This one is mine. I bought it from a Porsche dealer about 8 years ago.

I asked about the lettering at the time and they told me it had been updated and no longer had the black lettering on the Porsche script.

Yours looks the same as mine.

Special Porsche font......measure the height and width, push a button and it cuts it out. Of course you have to have the program, the cutter, the font and the measurements.....which I have all but the specifics for that particular reflector.

Give me the measurements and I can do it for ya....

Then ya stick the vinyl stickers on top. Or if ya wanna be fancy, do a reverse cut and apply from the rear.....

The reverse cut was what I was referring to. Would that just stick onto the back of the reflector or do you have to take it apart and apply it in sort of a sandwich?

I haven't seen one of of the car in quite a while...so I don't know. Easiest would be to apply on top. I DO remember they are a PITA to remove.
