Anyone going to Festival of Speed this weekend?

As much as I hate being a spectator at track events, I'm going to head uip to Fontana Saturday to check things out. Who else is going?

I will be there running my 928 in the time trial, and sorting out my 928 SC also.

I went last year all by my lonesome. I enjoyed walking all over the pits and standing trackside anywhere and everywhere. After a couple of hours I was done. Doubtful I'll go this year. I prefer to drive the track rather than watch from the sidelines.

Looking foreword to it . I have attended Ventura and O.C. which are stagnant shows. This will be great, to watch P cars do what they were born to do! My son and I will soaking up the visuals, and sucking up the fumes,,,,what a way to raise a boy right!

That's kind of what I'm envisioning, in fact I need to be home by mid-afternoon.

But, I'm going to have a certain set of new wheels on the car and brand new R's that I need to get a couple of miles on....

I plan on going. Went two years ago and tried to get a video of the track drive at lunch time. Battery went dead just as I entered the track. Not gonna happen this year.
The lunch time lap is well worth the $20 IMO, especially if you've never been on a high banked turn before.

There is a parking fee and a liability waiver to be signed then you get a wristband. You have access to most of the track including garages, pit row and various track vantage points you cant get to normally. Lots of great photography vantage points especially around the pedestrian bridge that goes over the track.

This is from last years FOS event

My sentiments exactly, but since I'm retired from track driving (I won't even do the lunch time tour), I guess I go or don't go as far as watching.

So........

The Early S Registry and R Gruppe guys are planning to meet at Ontario Mills for breakfast. Here's the info:
Denny's
715 N MILLIKEN AVE
ONTARIO,CA 91764 US

Saturday 4/4 at 7:30

I don't know what the exact policy is about parking later cars with the earlier ones, but if they get 20 or more at the breakfast, there is talk about free admission and a separate track tour at lunch for the $20 donation. If you can get in on this, it is fantastic. I have done it twice and there is nothing like boogieing around Turns 1 and 2 at speed. The "pace" car will probably hold things down to under 100, but that's a thrill nevertheless. I guaranty it.

The ESR and R Gruppe always welcome any and all Porsches at their events. There are very few exclusive activities; they are very friendly. Once in a while they circle their wagons and go off alone, but this won't be one of those times.

Go on out there and meet up.

Hmmmm, not sure I'll be up in Ontario at 7:30, but if I do get an early start, I may try and make the breakfast.
