69 wiring diagram
On this diagram http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/Electrical/911_electrical_1965.jpg is number 3 the voltage regulator? I am hooking up my gauges and am comparing my notes from how it came apart to the original diagrams. I did have some lights and gauges that did not work which is my reason for questioning. In following the blue wire that goes from #3 to the speedo I am hoping/guessing that this is for the alternator light. I have pulled a few sketch diagrams from recent threads and they do not correspond with the diagram either.

The way I read the schematic is that number 2 is the alternater and number 3 is the voltage regulator.

Try this wiring diagram for the '69. It is much better.

I found a free program that splits the jpeg file into 4 pdf files. I printed them out on four 8.5 by 11 sheets of paper and glued them together. Makes the printout big and readable.

the '69 wiring is one year only, just look at that diagram on Nick's page. Like nothing before or after.
But anyway, yes #3 is the VR, and the blue wire runs to the back of the alternator and forward to the bulb holder for the warning lamp. It is also called "D+/61" and if you search here you will find much information about how it works and why it's so important. Good luck!

Which file splitting program did you use? that sounds like a better way to come at it that I'd planned, but it would be helpful if you pointed me toward the program that you used. There looks to be lots of options out there. Tim '69 911E |

Craig thanks for that link. It has more resolution than the others. I still would like to get a high quality poster size laminated copy. Anyone know of a source

I used PosteRazor to make a large print at: posterazor.sourceforge.net/
Yes, the '69 is different from the rest. I couldn't figure out why the PO put jumper wires on my #1 fuse block. When I removed them the car would not start. That started my hunt for a detailed '69 wiring diagram. The '69 has a #1 fuse block that has fuses 1 - 5 jumped on the back side. The PO had the wrong block and compensated by using jumper wires.
