Seat foam discoloration
OK took the covers off the totally toasted sport seats I recently aquired and under the cover the foam is a real dark green color. I first assumed it was mold. Have used oxy-clean, fungicide, bathroom cleaner everything I can think off but it doesn't even touch it. I put the entire foam section in a 5 gal bucket and soaked it then pressed out the excess water, nothing. Water was not even dirty. So now my question is would it possilby be dye bleed from the leather seats getting wet. I know that black dye is not really black. This is a really dark green. Foam otherwise is in pretty good shape.

I think it is dye.

Well I also think it is dye. My wife informed me that it was mold. I think I have enough pieces of the covering to make patterns. Vinyl is on sale right now at Hancock fabrics so I think I will get some and make an attempt at custom covers. The foam is really in pretty good shape. It took me squishing it into a 5 gal bucket and then sqeezing out the water. So I think it will hold up for a while yet.

Not an expert by any means, but I was assuming it didn't smell moldy.

looks like mold to me, like others said what did it smell like before? of course some molds dont give off any oder.
suprised all the cleaner you used didnt start eating up the foam. if it doesnt stink and the color doesnt bleed thru to the coving...who cares what it looks like. make sure you let it air dry completely before recoveing.
