I Need Help....On a Power antenna wiring
I have looked everywhere I can think to find a wiring schematic for a Hirschmann Power antenna.
There is nothing in Haynes or the Bentley SC, or factory manuals, I Tried looking at Hirschmann (too old).. I picked up a used antenna off of this site last week and its the same as my old one. There are 3 wires coming out of the motor, two of them the Blue/white and blue /red going to a connector and then go to a relay, thats what I'm tring to find out how to wire and probably replace. any help would be appreciated. Thanks Lorne M. ![]()

I believe that the red one goes to switched power and the green one goes to your radio and recieves the power antenna signal. Not 100% sure, but I was fishing around under the dash over the weekend and I believe that is what I observed.
BTW is that your garage floor? Im jealous! My kitchen floor doesn't lok that good (white tile + self-feeding 8 month old = disaster!) Did you have it professionally done or was that a "kit"?

Thanks I will try that now I have another working antenna to use.
I had the floor (workshop and garage) done for me...I'm not sure I would call it proffesionally . I needed it done before I moved in to our townhose and couldn't take the time to do it.. the product was from Rust o leum but if I was ging to do it again I would use the stuff from Groitts Garage. I agree with the wire codes and connections. I would hook the blue/red to 12V+ constant. Reason, if you turn the car off and the power wire is ignition switched it will stop retracting as soon as key is off. With 12V+ constant it will finish retracting when you turn the car off. New replacement Hirschmann power antennas have black, white, and red wires ( I opened a box to check) and wiring diagram suggests constant 12 V+. Your antenna does not have an obvious ground wire, maybe it grounds at the body attachment? Used antennas, unless close to free, are not such a bargain when new Hirschmann replacements are $40-$45 (chrome & black mast respectively). Hard to say how much life is left on the gears.
Regards, Charles

Charles Thanks for looking.
It's a good thing my time is free, I just searched and found lots for sale at just a little more. both the units have a connection that goes to a relay that has two wires coming out, if i connect pos. to one wire the antenna goes in but I need to touch both wires to make it go out? Thanks again

You have to take a picture of the relay or draw a sketch of the terminals to get an answer to that. You can email me direct sblanket@pacbell.net which might get you a faster answer. FYI we stock and sell new Hirschmanns for the price quoted, both chrome and black mast available. Power antenna on the passenger fender manual antenna on the drivers side.

Lorne, I've got the missing link, there is a three wire harness lthat connects to the relay. The red comes from the +12 VDC lead on the light switch cluster (at least on my 930 with an in-line fuse). The green comes from the low voltage switched line from the radio, and the missing link, the black ground line attaches to the metal tab on the relay case, screw-nut-wire lug.
The relay I have is exactly the same as the one in your photo. Cheers, Holycow (Dean)

That makes more sense, I will cobble up some pieces tomorrow and see if we have lift off or retraction
Thanks again Lorne M.

I just replaced the power antenna on my 82 911SC. After many searches in vain for a wiring diagram or helpful hints on how to make this work, this thread was the closest one I could find but still not fully correct. Here is what I figured out. I hope it helps the next person that is stuck on this item.
a. In the frunk on the passenger side, remove the relay that is in the hole next to the fender and the hood strut. You don't need this since modern power antennas, have the relay built in. b. The red wire connected to the relay is 12V power from the battery. In my car, it has a fuse holder a little bit further in past the hood strut. This continuously supplies power to allow the antenna to fully retract after the car is shut down. c. The green wire connected to the relay is a 12V signal from the radio. This has 12V when the radio is on and the antenna goes up. This drops to 0V when the radio is off and the antenna goes down. d. Disconnect the red and green wires from the relay. Verify that these are powering properly with a voltmeter. I had a blown fuse on the red wire that caused some confusion at first ... probably happened when I was fiddling with the relay trying to figure things out. e. Cut the yellow, blue/red, & blue/white wires from the old power antenna after unscrewing it at the top above the fender and at the bottom where the cross piece with holes in it is connected to the antenna under the fender. f. The new power antenna has red, green, and black wires. Run these wires through the hole in the fender where the old yellow, blue/red, & blue/white wires go through to frunk. I put shrink wrap around the first foot or so of these wires to protect them from the elements. I taped the new antenna's red, green, black to the old wires and used the old wires to pull the the new ones through one a time. This worked well. g. In the frunk, connect red wire to red wire, green wire to green wire, and attach the black ground wire to the body via the screw where the old relay used to be attached. This should do the trick. Ralph

It's pretty easy with todays antennas. You obviously posted a plug'n'play solution back in the days replacing the original automatic antenna. Don't know, doesn't matter. Mostly self explained now.
Basically todays automatic antennas like the Hirschmann Auta 2050 has 3 power wires, red ("rt" = german "Rot", with fuse holder, permanent +12V), green (gn = german "Grün", control signal from car stereo), thin black wire (ground) and the thicker coax antenna cable. The red wire goes directly to the battery plus, ground comes from the car body, and green goes to the blue/white connector/cable out of the car stereo needs to be connected to the green antenna signal which is powered when the car stereo is switched on. Same as on amplifiers. Coax cable is clear... Refer to manuals for more details, e.g. https://www.autokatalogen.no/wls/view_article_document.do?owner=124&language=NO&file=RAX+602433001+instruktion.pdf Thomas
