Sully's 911 in "Commando" - what is it?

Currently watching one of my favorite 80's movies on AMC, Schwarzenegger's "Commando" - the epitome of brainles, glorious action cheese. Anyone own (or can TiVo or whatever) and can pause the movie?

Take a close look at the yellow 911, looking past the several goofball 80s mods. It's a long hood with rear flares, and an interesting exhaust. Please tell me the flares are also mods...

The car has come up in various threads here over the years, such as the Porsche movie threads, but I don't know if anyone has ID'd the car conclusively.

Too late for me to see it in the movie tonite, but if memory serves correct it's a long wheelbase targa longhood, 1969-1973. That yellow seemed to be non-factory, fiberglass whale tail & stock rear quarters for those years (don't think they were RS/Carrera flares). The exhaust is an Ansa four outlet. As for T, E or S...anybody's guess. Many of the trim package features that denote an S could've been modded in with the other non-stock items, especially after that respray.

Maybe this movie still will help others weigh-in with details:

I wonder if more than one car was used. The rears look decidedly flared in some scenes. Maybe there was one car that was trashed, and one that was kept intact.

It's funny how after the 911 plays bumper cars with an Alpine Sunbeam (?), is rolled, and Arnold flips it back on its wheels, when he drives it off, it looks pristine.

"What'd you do with Sully?"
..... "I let him go."

Def a narrow-body (they look good too!). +1 on the rest as well - cheap plastic tail, Ansa equipped run-of-the-mill pre 74 targa.

And now he's gov...

When you are watching the movie, notice that when Arnold rights the car and drives off, it is miraculously undamaged...

Did any early S's come without an S front airdam?

Check out the Sunbeam behind it. I used to have a Tiger....there was more corrosion than the Titanic on that thing!

Uh, yeah - see the rest of post #4... ;)

More and more, I am thinking from my possibly fractured memory that there were two cars used, a narrow body that was the crash car, and a flared car that was not. This makes me feel better; if there was an actual RS used in some scenes (unlikely), at least it wasn't smashed up.

Being that the film was made in the early 80s, the long hoods were probably at their low point in value, so anything is possible...many crimes were done back then, such as to my 72, which underwent an SC-ization that I am still working to correct.

A year after the movie came out, my dad gave me as my first car a bright yellow " Commando Yellow" 1976 Porsche 912E, we weren't that rich, so my dad taught me the engine and it took 40 days to get everything replaced, but I felt like a king

Welcome to the Forum. Any pictures of the 912?
