One year of ownership, it's all systems go
Thanks to this forum, Pelican Parts, the Bentley Manual, "101 Projects for Your Porsche 911" and my local mechanic, I've finally achieved most of what I wanted to do to get my '83 SC performing to my satisfaction. You've warned my of the slippery slope, and indeed it is, although manageable thus far. As of this point, every system on this car is in working order.
Things I've done or had done: Front sunroof seal; Engine lid and front hood shocks; Touched up paint on bumper, hood, and Fuchs spokes; Seat belt guide plastic trim; Shift coupler bushings and adjustment; Steering column repair sleeve; Oil lines to loop cooler, tank to cooler, and pressure line; Oil change; Repaired oil leaks at thermostat, oil pressure sender, and oil cooler; Valve adjustment; Throttle bellcrank bushings; Engine sound pad; Distributor cap, rotor, and spark plugs; Repaired washers, cruise control, fresh air blower motor, and front condenser motor; Got rid of that annoying "tick" behind the speedometer; Headlight relays, Front condenser in line fuse modification; Griffiths A/C upgrade (it's going to be a cooler summer); Things I want to do: Gauge light fuse modification; Keep drive the H&LL out of it!!! Damn I'm happy.... don't you love it when your plans come together? |
Congrats Brother Congrats

Of all the things I have done to my car the Griffith's A/C upgrade is my favorite. My wife would not ride in my 911 in August because the A/C was just not very good. Now triple digit heat is no big deal. I LOVE it after a long day at the autocross site. The trip home cools me off after hours of being on a black asphalt course.

What is it and what did you do to fix it. It's the clicking that speeds up as the speedo speeds up, right? I'll give you more moral support after you tell me :D |
