As a vet... 30 year man in the Army - Signal Corps - Special Forces and Civil Affairs - // 1974 - 2004 // multiple deployments to Africa/Sudan, Europe - Bosnia 96/ Desert Shield/Storm 90-91 // OIF#1 2002-2003 and later OIF 2006 [as a contractor] >> and some TDYs to Afghanistan [ I work in the Pentagon] > Thank you for your "Thanks"..
It does mean alot... as a generalization - we don't do it for the money... alot of times we don't do it for "God and Country'".... Watch BlackHawk Down .. the film about the Mogadishu operation back in 1993.. Hoot [a Delata "operator"] >> [ Timmy Martin "Griz" was my brothers team sergeant when he was in 10SFGA -// brother was a 20 year SF vet.. hell >> my entire family is vets including my blinking MOther who was a WAC in WW-II!!] >> When I get home people'll ask me " Hey Hoot, Whay do you do it man? Why? Just some war junkie? Ya know what I'll say ? I won't say a goddamn word. Why ? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it... They won't understand that it's about the men next to you .. and that's it... That's all it is".... It's a Band of Brothers.... something that you have to experience to be a part of....
