Does anyone make 15 X 9-11" Fuchs repros?

Can I get a set of 15 X 9, 15 X 11 Fuchs from someone, or are factory Fuchs the only option?

Do any of the wheel guys make repros?

You can ask Jeff Alton. He's begun making some 3-piece forged Fuchs replicas. His only size so far has been 17-inchers, but I know other people have expressed interest in getting 15" wheels made. You tell him what width you want, and the backspacing.

Yes...of course I know that. I'm going to be getting a set of his 17's for street use, but I was thinking 15's for track use might be really cool, now that Hoosier has a 275-35/15.

Ha! Sorry...no I didn't mean it like that. Sorry!

But I liked the Steve Martin impression. I wish he still did standup.

Search for Braid

There's a pair of 9s on eBay right now.

IMO, the best repro 9 or 11 is one made by welding a band into a common 8" wheel.

Nice. Thanks Vinny. (and all)

we'll be doing the 15s after we work the kinks out of the 17 delivery process - must move some product to pay for the rest of the development!

our goal is to offer 15 x9/11 with a really good RSR finish, same quality, strength and light weight as our 17inchers.

Slightly off topic - what about making 7&8x15's in addition to 9&11's?

At the current time 7 & 8 x 15 Fuchs are selling for $200 - $300 per wheel. We (Zuffenhaus) could not even get close to that pricing with with our 15" wheels. If the availability of 8's and then 7's made it economically feasable for people to buy our wheels we would be willing and able to make them.

In addition to Braid, Harvey Weidman makes 9 & 11 Fuchs with donor 8's.

Do not forget that there are still original wheels out there for sale, so if you need some they are available.

Bob Aines

Yes but original Fuchs are getting old! I've seen many original wheels with runout issues, not to mention unknown # of heat cycles, cosmetic damage, etc.

If you'll be making 9&11x15's I would think making shells for 7's and 8's wouldn't be too difficult.

There are many nice points about having brand new lightweight forged wheels vs. 25 -30 year old originals! Price may not be one of them.

Another idea...late style 7x15's with 911R offset...

I may be up for a set of new 8&9x15's.

Scott,

I understand and agree with the issues you have pointed out. If we see that the demand at the required price point is there I think we will make them. But until we see that there is real demand I don't think making a tool for those barrels will be in the plans.

For sure it will not be until the 9's and 11's are in production.

To answer another question, initially these will be the same ET as the originals only.

Jeff said my centers were done last week and the barrels were being heat treated as well so I can only assume that Assembly should be this week and shipping?
