frip'n rear shift boot

Anybody got any great tricks for installing a new rear shift boot in an '88 911? I am getting ready to try it again with the second new boot and feel like an idiot for having to struggle so much. I have tried soap to help it slip but I bet their might be a good way to fold it or someting before you set it up in there. I have huge hands and there is not much room to manuver in there
