Door window frame removal.
Any tips on the procedure? I have Bentleys and 101 projects but would like to hear some first hand experience if possible. Does the window need to come-out? (Car is in bits so no battery power either).
Thanks for any advice..

Coupe or Targa? The procedure is a little different for each.
Assuming coupe - since they are the only ones with an actual 'frame'. Trailing edge of door: 2 bolts at top of door. Careful removing them, there's a plate underneath them that likes to drop into difficult-to-recover positions. 1 more bolt at bottom of door. Leading edge of door: 2 bolts at top of door. Be very careful w/bolts & washers dropping into door. Under door panel: There is one bolt at the top of the door shell. There's also the frame depth adjustment assembly near the forward, lower section of the shell. It consists of two stamped steel pieces and two bolts - one to hold the adjuster pieces to the frame, and one to the door shell. You must remove the bolt holding these pieces to the window frame, or you will not be able to extract the frame from the door. After those are all out, you should be able to pull the frame out - it will be quickly evident if any fasteners were forgotten. You may need a little window movement to be able to get the frame out. If so, it is a simple-enough matter to de-couple the regulator assembly from the motor. Then you'll be able to manually adjust the window position. While-you're-in-there tasks to consider, most of which are cheap/easy: -Pull door latch assembly, degrease & clean, re-lube, check proper operation -Inspect striker plates & replace as necessary -Replace window regulator pivot pins - very common failure point -Replace window frame felt -Degrease/clean/inspect all window regulator parts, re-lube -Check all those pesky actuator rod pivot cups - the little plastic insert thingies for the various latch & lock rods that break & wear out. Replace as needed. -Repair/replace door shell moisture barrier -Clean out door shell gutter - especially drains - inspect & address any corrosion -Replace door plugs & weather seals as necessary Most of the above is cheap & easy. Most expensive thing is probably the Weltmeister pivot pins, which are about $32/ea.

It's pretty easy once you get in there. No need to pull the window out, and it's pretty much as Dave described. Reminds me that I have to replace the window felt on the driver side. Add it to the project list. . . .

Procedure went fine, no problems even with the window up. Can I replace the glass scraper (the clipped one with felt) with the door frame mounted, problem is that I cannot lower my window (no battery, no engine, even no switch)?
