Coupler Bushing Groove (pic)

The pic is of a 2 month old, OEM, coupler bushing. The inner coupler housing for the bushing appears ok. What could possibly cause this to happen?

Sorry, that meant to read Shifter Bushing, not coupler.

looks to me like you may have a short shift kit installed? and or the shift rod atachment maybe sitting under the floor and not on top. the reason i say this is because i have recently seen this on a car with a short shift lit.
looks like the bushing is not seated all the way down in the cup.

cheers ed

Ed, correct that the shift rod attachment is under the floor but no short shifter. I also thought that the bushing was not seated all the way down but I dont think there is a way to check once the housing screws are tightened.

It's been a while but I think on a 915 shift housing there is an access hole in the passenger side of the unit through which, when shining a light, should reveal how well seated the cup bushing is.
