scored a OEM tool kit off Craigslist
 

I look on Craigslist almost every day for various items. Yesterday I noticed a OEM Porsche tool kit for sale. The ad stated it was a Klein tool kit for 1984-1989 Carreras and the price was $49.00. This morning I called the guy and we chose a time to meet. I was very surprised when I saw the kit as the pouch looked perfect ! Not a single scratch or mark. I opened up the kit and every wrench was there including screwdriver and bits,V belt and fuses!!! Best $49.00 I've spent in a while :D I already have a full kit for the SC but this will be perfect for the 914GT clone with the 3.0. I love scoring deals.SmileWavy

Lucky dog, and good for you. I've been searching for a good complete tool kit. The complete originals I've been able to find sure haven't been $49.

After getting home today and having a chance to really look this over I would say that none of these tools has EVER been used ! I would say they are concourse quality I'm not kidding. There is surface rust spots on the 10/13mm double ended socket but that's it :D Sorry to gloat but I rarely find deals this good.SmileWavy

I got my tool kit last year from evilBay. Yes, it cost me a bit more - about $100, as I recall - but it even included the original package of spare fuses.

These do show up occasionally on eBay, but the real trick is finding the correct one for your car.

I don't know about yours, but the pouch for my tool kit is a bit fragile just due to it being 20+ years old.

Nice find. The tool kit is nice but hardly a necessity. Mine came complete with my 89 car. I use to carry it around because it was part of the car. The I started leaving it out for DE's. Then I put it away somewhere and haven't used it for a few years. The spark plug tool is useful, but a couple of tools from Sears is all you need if yours is missing.

There are (2) tools from the factory tool kit that I've found VERY useful:

The spark plug tool is better than any socket I've tried to remove and install spark plugs,

and the "curved" tool for holding the fan when loosening or tightening the nut securing the fan & pulley is unique in its functionality.

Unless the tools are of such high quality they are worthy of being displayed at Terminal 3, LAX.

In the early 90's I bought 10 brand new tool kids at the Blowers Car Swap Meet at Veterans Stadium in Long Beach, Ca.

The guy I bought them from bought all the inventory from Pacific Porsche which I believe was in Stockton, Ca.

I scored them all for less then 1/2 the price of a new tool kit in those days.

$49.00 now is a great price and you scored. Good job.
