Repairing/Painting of Wheel Well
I am repainting my 84 Carrera and have found some rust in the wheel wells after removing the fenders ( strongly recommend fender removal when painting). Not through the tub but definately should be fixed.
I pressure washed the wheel wells to clean out the 50lbs of road dirt and am trying to determine how best to finish the area. The rust is above the bumper shocks so I plan of having the rust sandblasted and then epoxy primer applie then undecoating sprayed. I may apply a rust encapsulator like POR-15 or an Eastwood Product prior to the epoxy primer - opinions ? Also the remainder of the wheel well original undercoating is still in good shape, it just does't clean up well. It was originally silver color matching the body color. I want to repaint the entire front wells to make it look consistant again. Can I sandblast the undercoating to clean remaining grime and then epoxy primer then topcoat ? I do not plan on painting the rear fender wells as they are more difficult to get into and look to be in good shape as well |
