Tough decision on Carrera script

I went round and round over this - but I think I like it. Didn't want to attract too much attention - therefore I went with the black on dark paint. Goes well with the ducktail - although now I have to spend extra time explaining it to non-porschephiles. Going for the 74 Carrera look... What do you think?

Both look good. Great looking car. Go with it until you don't like it anymore.

bonkers 04-21-2009 04:33 PM

Subtle and classy. *Thumbs Up!*

:)

What is there to explain? It's a fantastic looking car, and the graphic is subtle, nondescript and classy. If a non-Porschephile needs an explanation, he or she would probably never understand.

I like it very much. I think many of the Carrera scripts are done in colors that are way too garrish. They can make a very classy, expensive and functional car look cheap. I'm thinking of doing some graphics on my black Carrera in matte black. But above all, if you like it, go for it and forget about what anyone else thinks.

I have experience dealing with comments/jokes about my cars - I drove a miata as a fighter pilot for a couple of years!

The way I justified it was by reminding myself that this was a factory option (although not for my year). That lends a little more credence/pedigree to the overall look.

Glad you guys like it - and like you said, its easy to take off.

Very cool.

I'm doing the very same thing in the next month or so....!

Midnight Blue, black script.

Satin black Fuch centres.

Mine doesn't have the duck tail though.

God, my wife has a Miata. I find myself driving it whenever the P-car is garaged. The guys I work with are merciless...oh, the suffering!!! :(

I even dropped the suspension 1 1/2 inches, put 17" racing rims and a catback twin-tip exhaust on it, along with a couple of engine mods...just to make the car a little less "chick-like". It doesn't seem to make any difference.

The only thing I would say is that it dates the car. Other than that it's personal preference. I like the script on rs Americas. And white 911's with black script.
Nice looking 911 too by the way.

Wavey, black on black would be intersting for sure, post pix if you do!

Crap I was thinking of matte black too. We think too much alike to have the same cars a mere 3 or so miles apart! Thank goodness you got the RUF bumpers and wing...
I'm gonna do that ducktail for sure.

Looks good.....I was having the same problem as you...I was also wanting to go with the 74 Carrera look....but I went the other way. I like them both though

tmsautoart 04-21-2009 07:29 PM

both look good to me.

PSportoVeloce 04-21-2009 07:34 PM

Nice cars both of you...what is that color called? It's too dark to be Venetian, and it's too grey to be Prussian, and too blue to be Pacific I think.

Hugh R 04-21-2009 07:36 PM

Personally, I like it without. The script seems to say "Hey, look at me". But then I put a Carrera tail on my Targa, and I had my "spokes polished with black in the background, so whom am I to critique.

Looks similar to mine, which is Marine Blue.

Maxhouse97 04-22-2009 04:11 AM

Don,

Do you have the same color as me? Marine Blau metallic? Nice.

Yeah I wanted to avoid the "hey look at me" but I just like the look too much. You probably won't even see it at night...

Plus this is a 22 year old car - it is already unique amongst all the hybrids and SUVs. Why not make it a little more distinctive if it looks sharp?

I like that too.. maybe even more.

Tony, you've got to take it all off and start again mate, sorry!

:D

stormmaster 04-22-2009 07:54 AM

Yes...marine blue

vreference 04-22-2009 08:28 AM

I'll go against the crowd and say I prefer plain; I do like the combination on storm's car though.

twobone 04-22-2009 08:41 AM

Perhaps go with a colour match of wheels and script
