Well when the oil cooler is putting out a continuous stream of oil from a hair line crack it is time to do something about it. So I looked into the manual and Bentley says let down the right side of the engine about 3" and do all this stuff to remove the oil cooler. Nice Idea but I kinda think it would take a minor miracle to get all the nuts and bolts in all the crevices. I was thinking of changing out the hoses on my 82 911T and figured "I am not getting to far on this oil cooler so: Engine drop.
I can see everything! The article "Easy engine drop" made my day or should I say three evenings. I took my time and now the engine is behind the car. In the process I finished breaking the fragile starter connection and one of the electrical connectors. No fault of the instructions but bone headed on my part. So now it is time to start writing the checks. Oil Cooler - re-weld or replace, New starter, and tubes for all the vacuum lines. sounds kinda minor but It will be cleaned and ready to go back in hopefully within the next two weeks. I am taking my time you know. I have noticed that when I drive my truck home at night I am still thinking about work when I get home. That never happens when I drive Sally (82 911T).
I miss her already and it has only been three days.
