External voltage regulator woes - plz help?

Ok. We swapped in a fresh rebuilt 2.2t a couple of weeks ago and lo and behold the voltage regulator went bad. Pulled the alternator on the new engine to see what make it was (Bosch) and saw my car had a Transpo P8 405 VR installed.

Found a Bosch replacement VR for the 55 amp alternator and it looks nothing like what I removed from the car. Pic:

New regulator on the left, one I removed from the car on the right.

How am I supposed to wire up the new block-y one that looks like it plugs directly into something?

Here's what the wiring looks like:

Is there supposed to be a female 3 pin plug of sorts there? WTF!?

It's supposed to be 70 degrees and sunny this weekend and I'd really like to be driving. Any help is greatly appreciated. All I've got are the Wayne books and the Haynes manual, so I'm sort of in the dark here. If someone can tell me which wires go where, I'd be ever so grateful!

I'm not sure if this will help you much since it is from a '77, but it does show where the external regulator lives.

Hmm
That is somewhat helpful. You see the plug attached to the regulator? I don't see that anywhere in my wiring. Looks like the p.o made his own connections to run the transpo one. Now, if I can figure out what pin does what, I can make it work....

Can someone take a look at their plug and see if its tells you which pin is which?
I *think* D- goes to the brown ground wire, D+ to the blue wire, and DF to the black wire.

I'm at work and don't have my new in front of me to tell me which is which. Hoping for a pleasant surprise when I get home.

D- ground brown
D+/61 blue
DF black (dynamo field)
