999 Question???

Ok, so the 2009 911 is called the 997, the 2010 will be called 998, then?
Well the question is this, after the 2011 999, what then? Certainly there wont be a Porsche 1000??? (sounds cool, though

Maybe Porsche planned it that way cause they subscribe to the whole "2112 end of the world theory"

I look forward to hearing what you guys think...

Kinda like Lincoln...they ran the Mark series through a few numbers, then they made the MKZ. The Mark Z. The Mark Final. The Last Mark. The Mark Omega.

What freaking salesman thought up that? "Oh, lets make it the Last Ever Mark, just so we can put the uber kewl 'Z" in the name!"

Freaking idiots.

BB, the model numbers don't change on a yearly basis. For example the 996 (4th gen 911), was produced from 96 to 05. I'm not certain but I think the 998 will be out in 2011.

Pretty sure there isn't a 998. The 2010 911 is the 997.2 which is the same as the 2009 911 which is also the 997.2

Since they're "internal" designations only, they can pretty much start over if they want. To the public, it will still be a 911.

For a while I thought they were going to drop the numbers all together, and go with "Carrera", "Boxster", "Cayman", "Cayenne", and now "Panamera". I wouldn't be surprised if they continued down that road.

The RS Spyder is the "9R6". They seem hell bent on sticking to three digits starting with 9. What was the Carrera GT?
