Transmission Question...
I have a '88 930 that is pristine condition. She has pretty much every mod done that will take her to the "safe" limit of CIS.
I have been surfing the 'net and seeing some pretty impressive hp numbers from efi and beyond. (I have been debating going efi) My question is this: what kind of Porsche 911 transmission will hold 700+hp??? I know that the 930 transmission is pretty strong, and word is that it is good for 700hp, but what if you are building a Texas Mile missle or putting out over 1100whp like Bello? ![]() I am just curious because if I decide to take my 930 to the "radical" stage, I want to make sure that I am not constantly running through transmissions, and upon cursory review, the engine making the power will not be as big an issue/hurdle as the transaxle being able to hold it... |

You might want to seek out someone like Jerry Woods at JW Enterprises in Campbell CA. I took a trans rebuilding class in Dec. taught by Jerry - he's certainly an authority on Porsches. He says the 930 4-speed is good for 700+hp. When compared to the 915, the 930 internals are substantially stronger!
