Seat back release on '99 996

The passenger side seat release on my '99 996 works just fine. The driver side does not. Pulling the outboard lever all the way up doesn't release the seat. Pulling up inboard lever and outboard lever at the same time allows the seat to release. So I am guessing the release cable has too much slack in it. I've searched this forum for details on this stock seat from my '99 996, but haven't seen anything. Has anyone adjusted the release system on this model seat? How much surgery am I in for if I attempt this myself. It's annoying, but not enough to warrant full seat removal and disassembly.
