Braking imbalance

In case of braking hard, my left front wheel will always lock before the right front wheel. What could be causing this imbalance? I have replaced the master cylinder before, for other reason. Would new pads help, or is it a break line issue? Lines are stock rubber. Car is 78SC.

AS the rubber brake lines get older and harder they swell up on the inside nad can casue teh imbalance yo are mtalking about. When was the last time you replaced tehrubber lines.

If they havent been replaced in the last ten years I would get a set from our host. This should fix the problem

Thanks, I was suspecting the rubber lines could be the problem, just wasn`t sure by which mechanism this happens. I`ll get a set of stainless steel ones. I never replaced the lines in 8 years I owned the car.

How's the corner balance?

I don't want to get you off track too much but I found that my right front would lock up because my CB was off. Once I did the tripod checking method , fixed the problem, my brakes are sweet again.

My brake lines/calipers/pads were all replaced so I know they were not the problem.

I had the exact problem on my 73. Replaced the brake lines because they were old and of unknown condition but it didn't cure the problem. New brake pads did.

I had this problem too. Turns out someone set the notch on the LF caliper pistons at a 20 deg angle, but facing in the wrong direction. The pads were starting to wear into a wedge shape also. A rebuild of both front calipers, and of course orienting the piston notch correctly, fixed the problem.

Could be any of the things listed above, but my first thought was the same as Oh Ha Ha -- corner balance.
