swapping MFI to Carbs?
 

I am putting a set of carbs on a 2.4 that was mfi anyone have any advice or what to watchout for?

Whiplash. Just kidding.
Why are you going to carbs, I thought a good MFI system is just as good if not better.

I am going to carbs as well, but I am going from CIS to carbs.
There are a lot of guys on here that know a lot about carbs. I am sure they will respond.

My advice is to keep your MFI, or get it if you don't have it. Your '69S is a valuable car, but less so without the MFI. There are mountains of resources available for MFI, both here and on the S Registry board. We will be glad to help!

MFI is rock solid. We have a 69E that we revived from the dead and turned into a race car and the injection has been problem free and I wouldnt dream of pulling it from my 72S. The throttle response is just amazing. A friend has a 69S with a carbed 2,7 that he is always having to tinker with. I will say this, I used to have A 79 Turbo and if I could have I would have ditched the CIS for carbs.

I'm relatively young but why did so many people pull their MFI in favor of going go webers?

i am actually rebuilding my 69s 2.0 and have a 2.4 that had MFI but does not have it on it now so i figured i would get a set of webers to put on it until my other engine is ready. i would try to find a MFI for it but have not seen any for sale complete and/or are very $$ and not sure if they are any good and from what i understand are expensive to redo.

I'd find a way to stay MFI, especially since you have an "S". I just saw a 72 MFI 2.4 "S" engine on SF Bay craigs list for $9K.

The MFI is so cool, you won't be sorry.

I have two MFI 2.4 engines, the original to the car ( 73 Coupe ) engine is almost complete on a total rebuild to "E" spec.

The other engine is currently in my car and is awsome, it's also a "T" that I bought while doing the original rebuild. I'm selling it now ( trying too, anyway ) $3,500.

Gus @ Pacific injection rebuilt my original pump to "E" for $1,400 and Matt Blast @ Eurometrix rebuilt my throttle bodies to "E" spec for $1,200.

put on some Zeniths until you find and rebuild or modify MFI -- that is the cheap temporary solution

Zeniths are like the '74 911 -- under-appreciated and hence cheap
