CIS K-Jetronic Issues

I have a 1982 911SC that I put in storage several years ago because of a problem with the fuel injection. I am preparing to dig it out and fix the problem. Is the fuel system tester listed on this site OK for diagnosing the CIS K-Jetronic? Do you have a better recommendation?

Since the car has been sitting so long I would like to replace the rubber fuel injection components before I start. Can someone provide a list of parts that I should order?

Here's a great overview of CIS and its components - http://members.rennlist.com/jimwms/CIS/CIShome.html

You should probably take a couple of steps before you embark on a CIS journey. One thing I've learned is that clean fuel is EXTREMELY important to a properly working CIS system. So what you mean by "dig it out" and what you hope to accomplish by what you mean when you say "fix the problem" depends on how much time/effort you want to put into this.

Basically, if the car has been sitting for a couple of years I would approach this car with the idea that you need to take every precaution before running the CIS system.

(1) Drain old gas and dispose (some gas stations do this -- or call local Fire Dept and ask for recommendation)
(2) Purchase new fuel filter / install
(3) There are many different seals/gaskets that can be replaced to help to prevent vacuum leaks, etc. I should add there are hoses that could be replaced for the same reason. But, I'd wait to inspect/replace these until later.
(4) Pull fuel injectors and bench test them for spray pattern
(5) Then I'd verify your getting fuel to your injectors (put them in bottles and lift up on air sensor plate) and double-check timing/ignition.

I'll let others chime in on other things to look for or a better approach. I think these are the obvious things to do if you want a properly running CIS fuel injection system.

As far as your questions, let me try to directly answer them:

There is a CIS control pressure tester. It will be something you might want to use down the road and is helpful for testing your WUR (warm up regulator), system pressure, cold/warm pressures, etc. You can purchase it from our vendor here http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=TOL-TA33865&catalog_description=C%2EI%2ES%2E%20K%2DJet ronic%20Fuel%20Injection%20Tester%20with%20Case or try your luck elsewhere. I've done this recently and posted part of the test on YouTube.

No.

Again, I think this question is premature until you drain the gas and inspect the system. If you do pull the injectors you will need to purchase new sleaves/seals for them. Then you could probably do the CIS pressure tests.

Hope this helps - Good luck
