Weber questions
Hi, I'm putting my Weber 40 IDA back together and I am keeping records of what size each component is for reference. There are a few items which I cannot find markings on, I was wondering if anyone can help?
(my engine is a 1969 911E engine according to the serial numbers) So far, I have: auxillary venturi ------ 4.5 main jet -----------------140 pump jet ----------------50 emulsion tube ----------F26 Air correction jet -------180 main venturi ------------ ? idle jet---------------------? pump exhaust valve ---? I can not find any size markings on the last 3 components listed, does anyone know how I would find the sizes? Also, can I use pump jets from a PMO carburetor or any other parts that are hard to find? Thanks, Keith |
Jets are measured in millimeters (x.xx). If you do not have a jet drilling kit or a numbered (#) drill set, you can probably take out one of each jet and go to a machine shop and ask to use theirs at the front desk. You are measuring the hole on the end, not the side holes. I find it hard to believe that the jets are not labeled--you did unscrew them and pull them out, right?
I'm not sure how the other two were measured. |
i don't know weber jetting offhand but PMO is a great parts source.

Genuine Weber main venturies have the sizes cast into the entrance to the the throat; aftermarket ones are machined (shiny) and so you'll need to take some measurements. Idle jets have their sizes stamped on the side (very tiny numbers). Accelerator pump nozzles are the same (tiny numbers). You'll need a good magnifying glass if your eyes are like mine,...:) :) Aside from idle jets, PMO parts are not interchangable. |

Thanks guys, I found the sizes and they are very small on the idle jet (well ok, I guess I need to make an appointment with the optomitrist that I've been putting off for a long time ). Now I can put it back together.
Thanks again, Keith |
