Rear Engine Lid Latch

I have a 1973 911 T Targa

The rear Engine Lid Trunk Latch will not stay closed. It seems like the bottom latch is not " clicking" when the top pin is pushed (closed) into place.
It worked fine last fall when I put the car to sleep for the winter.
The Engine Lid may have been "open" ( not closed all the way) for the winter but I am not 100% sure.

Any ideas ?

thanks
Cros

There is an adjustment procedure in the factory manual. Maybe someone can copy or send it to you. I'm sorry, my manuals aren't close right now.

The female latch has a center position for locking the male pin. The central position is determined by the adjustment of the cable. Too tight or to loose is ng.

Eyeball the hole on the left side of the latch body. The lock slider should have its hole lined up to it. If not move the latch till you see the hole through the body hole and put a nail in it to hold it at this center position. Adjust cable to maintain hole alignment.

then again the unit or cable may only need grease?
