Return Line Adaptation

Hopefully a simple question. I'm trying to adapt a 1976 return fuel line to connect to the 1983 engine. They are different sizes on each side, so I'm going to have a hydraulic shop make a hose to connect each side.

Can you help? Planning a short drive this weekend.

I fashioned some fuel hose with some hose clamps temporarily and I find it's leaking now. I know its ghetto . . .

Return line........

Rick,

Is that piece you added to the return line a vacuum line hose? I've used the old fittings from the fuel lines and used fuel injected hoses for the return lines with no problem. A simplier way is to bring your old hoses to a hydralic shop that could fabricate similar replacement lines. They could crimped them like the original ones and would cost much less than ordering them from Germany. This is an easy problem you could tackle. BTW, the return line is a LOW pressure fuel line compared to the delivery line.

Hi there Tony,

Thank for your prompt response as always. The line is a vacuum hose line but is also tested for high pressure fuel line. I think my problem was that I put the hose clamp where both the return hose threads are and below it. I think the inner clamp puts counter pressure and lets fuel drip through.

It's dripping on the bottom of the line, where the masking tape is. You can kinda see it.

Can I use plumbers tape on the threads to ensure fuel doesn't drip through?
