roll pin install on bilstein struts
The roll pin was installed incorrectly in my bilstein struts (facing up instead of in/out). Do i need to lift the car to remove and replace or can i leave the weight on it?

I'm not sure I get what is incorrect ... Buuuutt...
Assuming this is fronts, I took my wheel off and supported that side on a jack. and the frame on another jack. Just drop the one jack that is supporting the disc all the way down and pull it up to get the pin back out. i'd definitely fix it. |
When I did that I had the front of the car on jackstand and a floor jack under the tire to support it. Then I crawled under there with a drift punch and hammer and drove it out.
Mine was clunking over bumps. I removed it, rotated it 180 degrees and reinstalled it. The clunk went away. |
How can a roll pin be installed the wrong way?

I think it would be best to install it so the seam in the roll pin is away from the slot in the ball joint shaft or stud or whatever that part is called that fits into the bottom of the bilstein strut.
