just installed the RENNSHIFT shifter - will my stock knob fit?

I just installed the RENNSHIFT shifter. I thought I could re-use my stock knob but there is way too much play between the shifter and the knob. Is there a shim that I need to buy or am I outta luck?

answered my own question...looks like a "crush sleeve" will do the trick. I used a 15mm wrench and a hammer to get my stock one off as directed...it was late last night and I think i slung it somewhere in a frenzy. If I cant find my crush sleeve, do they sell generic ones or are they "porsche specific"?
	thanks, |

As you already discovered the stock knob with the crush sleeve will fit. Be careful though that you don't break the stock knob putting it on.
In my adjustment process, I removed and installed the stock knob several times. In the process I guess I weakened it, because it cracked while I was shifting not long after I installed it. I replaced it with the Rennshift knob that screws on (~$30 here on Pelican). I am now glad I broke it because the Rennshift knob looks really nice and is larger so it feels better in my hand. It's also easier to remove, since it screws on, if I ever have to remove it to readjust. |

ok...i found my stock crush sleeve. believe it or not, it was wedged in the wrench i used to pop off the stock knob. aparently, it found its way there and I just put it in the tool box as I was watching the stock shift knob fly across the garage.
In any event, I am using the stock shifter boot along with the stock knob and I think it looks excellent. I still need to get the shift coupler adjusted to get it just right, but so far this looks like an excellent piece of work. |
