82SC rebuild project: Phase III - The interior
The engine/suspension/body has been rebuilt (phase I) and re-assembled (phase II). Although I had a few hiccups starting the engine for the first time, I rounded out phase II last week, and have moved onto phase III, the interior. I'm starting with a naked chassis, so the first thing to do was lay down sound dampener. After some research, the RAAMmat BXT and Ensolite products seemed to be the right option for me. Very reasonably priced, and many good reviews.
Step one, vacuum all the dust to make sure I start with a clean surface: ![]() Then, install the RAAMmat BXT. Very simple to install, just peal off the backing, stick it down and work it into each nook and cranny. ![]() Next, the Ensolite closed-pore foam goes on. It requires a contact cement type spray adhesive, so its a little messier, but still relatively simple. ![]() Installation of the RAAMmat was done in a couple hours, and about the same for the Ensolite. I ordered one roll of the RAAMmat and 2yds of the Ensolite. I have about enough RAAMmat to do one of the doors, and I was actually short on the Ensolite. I don't want to have to order another full roll of the RAAMmat (~$120), so I'm going to contact the seller and see if I can get a partial roll. I figured I'd be at this for awhile, so I didn't order the carpet kit yet, but it went very quick, so I'll have to wait until next weekend to install the carpet. Geoff
