Atiwe 32 Steering Wheel. Is It Authentic?

I found a new ATIWE 32 steering wheel and hub on Craigslist. It's in another state so the Seller sent me photos and on the back there is engraved name and model number but there is no engraving where the wheel is made. From my research it should be made in ITALY and that should be engraved also. Do you think this wheel is authentic ATIWE?

As obscure as that brand is, I'd have a hard time believing that anybody is making knockoffs of their products. Looks real to me.

this is my ATIWE Steering wheel which was bought directly from Porsche. It is also made by ATIWE but it is a little bit different in some minor details to the on shown on your picture. Look at thevertical seam at the 6 o'clock position.

I think that your wheel has better quality stiching. I have seen some photos where they had closup shots of the stiching and it looks heavy duty compared to the wheel I am looking at.

ATIWE GmbH is a German company. Looks like the real thing. I think 32 refers to the 320mm diamater. The crest usually costs extra.

look at
911 G - Baujahr 1984 - 1989 - Porsche Classic Online Shop
there you can see the real thing.(in the version without the metal crest)

BTW: "32" has nothing to do with the wheels diameter, which is 360mm

I remember seeing the various model of these "930S" wheels around.

Not sure of the mfrs, but from what I recall, the one with the long vertical seam on the bottom is the "original equipment" wheel used by the Porsche factory.

Those seem to go for big bucks - like $750 and up.

The one you are looking at on CL looks like the "non-factory" version, which sold for much less (like half the price or less). Those seem to go as low as in the $200s.

ATIWE may be an "OEM" (original equipment manufacturer) that makes both wheels.

But I think the "split seam" version is the "original equipment" version, while the one you are looking at is not.

I think the split seam version is of higher quality overall - leather, stitching, etc.

That sums it all.
Same manufacturer. One is made Under contract for Porsche, has nice stitching, and lasts.
the other one has glued leather on spokes, looks crap and won't last under adverse conditions like heat, sweaty hands, humid climates.

Thank you all for the feedback. Seller is willing to sell the steering wheel with crest and the hub for $375. Wheel was never used. Do you think it's woth it?

I personally wouldn't pay that much for that wheel. I think the wheel can be bought from various suppliers for around $300, not sure how much the hub is, though.

But mainly, I've seen that wheel and am unimpressed by the quality. Also, I like the embossed crest on the factory wheel, but not the "stick on" crest on the aftermarket one.

THIS was a great deal on a factory version with hub, for $475! Of course, you know it was a steal when it sold in a matter of minutes. He probably could have gotten $700_ for it. You just missed it!

930s steering wheel/hub new $475

Thanks for the offer. I do look at the ebay Germany site once in a while.
