older 911 turbo question

I'm dreaming or I should say thinking about selling my zx14 Kawasaki and my 86 Carrera and finding a turbo 911 the years I'm considering are 1989 through 1993, those are the one I might be able to afford , The Carrerera has had a full windows out restoration and has been heavily modified with usual stealthy high quality upgrades. I just would like more power ,and I miss not having a turbo.

'89 is the last year of the 930 (911 based car) and the only 930 with a 5 Speed. After that it's the 965 which has all the suspension and HVAC changes you may be familiar with from the 964 platform.

Not real familar with the 965 platform, but Im very familar with the cis fuel injection system and not a big fan. The 84 to 89 Carrera motronic is a big step up from the cis and that is probaly the only thing on the 89 930 that Im not liking. I hate over computerized cars and was wondering if the 90 to93 are still simple like my 86, I just sold 98 boxter and to have the airbag light cleared was a $837.00 fix two new belts, inertia reels, and ocupant weight sensor and standard OBD scanner could not read the fault does 90 to 93 or so have that silly system? I like it simple one computer for fuel injection.

Older I thought you were talking about a 78-79 turbo! Hey you can dump the CIS on any car you buy real easy and install EFI.

All of the turbos, up until the 993 twin turbo in 1996, used CIS.

Older is simpler and easier to work on IMO. The C2s do have a few more electronic type guages etc. as well as some digital type ignition stuff but basic CIS which is easy and reliable.
