Could someone please post a shot of their fuse panels? (lighting issues)

Trying to figure out why the passenger US H4 headlight is dim on low beam setting. It's not the ground...I made a new ground wire and it didn't do anything. Voltage to one wire is only 7 volts and full voltage to the other, so this explains why the high beam seem to be ok. Again, it's only the passenger side low beam setting that is quite dim. Brand new headlight.

I know the lower fuse panel contains the 4 headlight fuses, 2 for each side. I was wondering if anyone had a photo either of their panel/wires coming off it or if they would be so kind to post said pic. Trying to figure out if the PO screwed with the wiring.

Any help/info/suggestions (no expletives plz) are welcome.

Dan

Dan,

Did you check the wiring diagram on this site? There is a diagram for a 71 which show the low beam is fuse #4-yellow wire. It also show that #4 is powered by a jumper connected to #3 fuse which is located behind the fuse block. Sometimes this connection is broken or weak and could cause your loss of voltage. Have you cleaned the fuse terminals thoroughly?

Ossiblue-

Thank you! I noticed that 2 and 4 did not have wires on the left side, and so the jumper explains that. I will clean all of the terminals and check the fuses tomorrow night. Thanks again!!

Alright
Fuses 3 and 4 are both getting 12v to each side. I cleaned fuse contact points, replaced the fuses with new ones etc.

Still only getting 7 volts at the headlight on the passenger side.

Looking at the schematic:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/Electrical/911_electrical_1971_Part-1.jpg

It appears the problem is definitely the wiring from the fuse to the low beam plug/tab on the headlight itself. Per the schematic, there appears to be a 6 pin connecton (#85) and that the low beam wire is one of the connections.

I got under the car and of course the wiring in the wheel well is a total rat's nest, replete with 20 year old sepia brown overspray and crusty duct tape on everything.

I think the next move is to just run a test wire directly from fuse #4 (low beam right side, of course) to the headlight and see what the voltmeter says then.

As frustrating as this is, it could be worse: I could be paying someone to figure this stuff out
