Could Someone Please Graph my Ratios?
Hi Guys
Hoping someone could have a look at my gear ratios I have available for my 915 rebuild and help me choose the best ratios for a weekend car with occasional track days. Box will have a 8:31 R&P. It was a 915/62 (ROW) and it may be that the original ratios are the best, but maybe the other gears I have might make for a better box? I want to run the taller TM 5th for highway cruising. 1st is AZ 35:11 2nd is HX 33:18 3rds are NT 23:29 and PR 25:27 4ths are QQ 26:26 and SN 28:23 5ths are SM 28:22 and TM 29:22 Thanks for any help/opinions Cheers |
Fishcop, if you go into the Technical Articles on this site, you will find an excellent article in the transmission section on sorting out gear ratios authored by the best. Check it out and you may find your ideal ratio. Maybe this would be a good first stop in your project. Glenn

here is the workup on the stock 915/62 that I gave you 4/16/2009, a very nice dual purpose box
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1239886058.gif Here is the same box w/ 29:22 instead of 28:22, you gain a bit more top , a slightly lower cruise rpm and a larger drop going into/out of 5 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1241971992.gif and here is the mess w/ all of your options installed http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1241972201.gif |
Perfect Bill, thanks so much (I was hoping you'd help me out :))
Clearly you're right, the factory spread is the best one to stick to, but I will drop in that taller 5th for the highway. Kevin, thanks - I'll send you an email/pm for that spreadsheet Cheers John |
