CIS idling problem outta nowhere
The Targa got rain leaked a few years ago that killed the PO's power amp under the driver seat (useless extra weight anyway.) Always wondered if the O2 lambda computer got zapped too.
Started up the car this morning and it stalled right away. Started again and gave it a little gas. Pop pop goes the airbox popup valve, and it's struggling to idle at around 700 rpm. So I sit there wondering why my car suddenly started to act up. Check the engine hoses for vacuum leaks, nope looks good. It started and ran fine yesterday... Thought about what I did... hmmm, did some spring cleaning in the cab, didn't touch the trunk or the engine bay, but I did vacuum around the O2 lambda computer. I take a look at the connections and they look fine, however, I decide to snug them up and fiddle with the wires a bit. Sure enough idle returns to normal. I know now that the lambda computer works. :-) |
Minor air box leak?

Pull the relay off, check and clean all pins and connectors, lube with dielectric grease. Do the same for the 14-pin and 6-pin connector. |
Ah I'll check for rust. Makes sense since I've had a fair bit of water in the area in the past. Thanks

"Fair bit of Water" doesn't sound good; time to pull back the carpets everywhere.
