H1 adjustment

Has anybody found a source for H1 adjustment screws?
They are really long and 2 of mine are bent bad - before I try to straighten them and possibly break them, I want to know if they can be found anywhere.

There have been sources mentioned in the past. I think the Early S Registry will be more fruitful in this search. What I think I know is that they are 4 mm and the thread pitch is .7. They are held in by (in order) a rubber o-ring, a cupped washer and a crimped metal piece. You probably already know that, but the crimped piece does not respond well to removal. So, you will have to conjure up your own versions of these parts. For instance, I used a ground out finish washer for the cupped one and double nutted behind that.

You could get the longest screw you can and braze extensions on made from other screws. I know some have done this. The toughest one is the one that attaches to the flex cable. This cable is the same as any small drive cable like for a speedometer. It is swedged onto the ends of the screw and the threaded adjuster and run thru guides.

Not to hijack. But I need one of these. Screwed mine out to far and this piece fell into the bucket. While driving home a few blocks away, it fell out the drain. I fashioned a new piece, but its really bad. What would I even call it?

Thanks Milt
One of my rings is dented in a couple places and has a few scratches on it - there is a local old timer (80 something)who I'm told can take my ring and make it look like new.
As finding the rings is also tough, I'm going to take it apart and bring the ring part to him - it sounds like doing this apparent simple task is going to open up another can worms.

I hate that damn washer thingy on those screws. What a goofy way to secure the screw in the ring. I tried to remove those on three SWB rings and could not get them all. Was wondering how they were resecured, but Milt has confirmed what i thought - nuts. Why did they design it like that? Seems like waay too much labor to install.

I was able to get the exterior mounting bezel (head light door) screws for the H1 from our host, have you tried them on a outside chance?

Tom,

Sorry... It is the funny single screw that attaches at the bottom of the chrome exterior head light bezel to the fender. The screw has external threads as well as internal threads. So you can install the painted bezel over the chrome head light bezel.

I can look up the P/N if you still don't know which screw I'm talking about. It's unfortunately not any of the above. Call Glen at Pelican, he's pretty sharp on the H1... It's a long shot...

Did you try Stoddard? What about Porsche Parts Obsolete? Have you Googled the manufacturer? Someone has these parts, it's a matter of finding them.
