Has This Ever Happened to Anyone Else
Hi All,
It was a nice evening for a drive and then this happened. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Does anyone know the fix? I took the mirror off the car and it looks like the mirror should fasten onto threads on top of the spring but I can't compress the spring enough to get the thread started. Am I missing something??? Help!!!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1242446491.jpg |
If it just happened you should be able to get an annulment after you sober up...I don't know about the mirror.;)

Exact same thing happened to mine. Most of the thread in the mirror housing was stripped. The spring tension made it very difficult to push the bolt in far enough to catch the remaining good thread, as you found out. I ended up cutting a couple turns off the spring and put JB weld on the tip of the bolt. Unfortunately that reduced the spring tension too much so now the housing vibrates.
First check to see if the threads are ok, then get a helper to compress the spring while you try to turn the bolt. If you decide to cut the spring, may try half a turn at a time. Good luck! |
I'll give it a try. Thanks Won.

I used an Allen wrench on mine since I didn't have a Torx. It tightened up fine.
