Help Please 2k to 4k Motronic update

Quick question can I swap my ecu to 4k with a stock chip?? It a 86 Carrera?? I have read steve Wong update several times but I dont want to screw it up. Seat is out and ecu is open on my tool box

Sorry, I'm just not clear as to what you're wanting to do: you want to swap ecu's and use the stock chip? I'm not familiar with a 2K to 4K update. They did however go from a 24 pin chip to a 28 pin chip.

Rutherford,
Can you post a picture of your circuit board right around the notch in the chip? If you do have the 2K board, there will be a jumper between B702 and B1. This will have to be removed and put in a new jumper between B703 and B704. I just had to check mine and I have an 86 carrera as well. I bet your is already 4K as was mine.
I would still post a picture to get verification before you begin to pull jumpers (just be on the safe side.)

bummer it was already updated,I was looking for a project that didn't cost anything to do.
