Shipping Tires
I am looking at buying some tires a couple of states away from me from a private seller. Anyone know a really cheap way to ship them? I just used the Greyhound calculator and the rears alone are coming out at $65. That seems way high to me.
Any other ideas are welcome!

UPS? Just tape the two together and slap a label on them. That's how I get my tires shipped to me.

I have shipped tires by wrapping them in cellophane wrap you get at UHaul. I have used Fed-Ex ground and found them reasonable.

I went through this last month. I didn't have the time to research low cost options like Greyhound or common freight/trucking.
I took them to a UPS store and use the on-line FedEx quote system and both came within $5 of each other. I shipped two race tires (275/40-17) from CT to CA for $90. It was highway robbery. I would expect a two state jaunt to be a lot less. If you can avoid the retail outlets (UPS Store, Mailboxes Etc, etc) and can find someone with a UPS or FedEx account to ship them for you you'll save $$$.
