Got car back from paint shop, rear R taillight doesnt work...

Hi there below is a picture (not of my car, just a general picture so you get the idea, i will post pics when car is put back together), i got my car back the other day from the paint shop and my rear passenger side taillight does not work. By that I mean the entire unit is out, no blinker working no brake light working ...nothing. I took the taillight out and all the wires are in place, i even changed out the bulbs. The drivers side works perfect, is there any fuse or relay of connection that might have been disconnected somewhere?? please let me know if you have ideas. Thanks much

Best to get the wiring diagram out....check for power at various areas starting with the fuse box in the front trunk.....

Does your oil level guage work? There is a multi pin plug on the inside of the engine compartment that connects the wiring harness to the RR tail light and oil level sender. See if that is disconnected. If not, pull the plug and check for corrosion. Use a multimeter to check for voltage with the lights on, turn signals on, etc. That will at least isolate the issue as to wheather or not the problem is upstream or downstream of that point.

that makes sense, when i brought the car home i noticed the oil level really really high up, i doubt they added oil to the car, i will call and find out if they did, but could that have also caused a malfunction to the oil sensor?

If the oil level is pegged up, it's grounded out, thats what happens when the plug is disconected....FC has it right. The multi-pin plug on right rear was unpluged No need to call the shop for the oil level, just check the plug first.

SC82,

I don't remember off of the top of my head but I believe that an open circuit causes the oil level guage to peg at the top of the guage.

Depending on how the respray was done, the painter may have just pulled the tail light housing and the plug from the engine compartment wall (Just easier to put it back that way instead of disconnecting all of the wires from the tail light housing) and then just forgot to hook it back up properly.

Look for a wire that runs along the right side of the engine compartment (under the oil filter). Follow it back towards the right rear motor mount. The plug is about the size of a quarter and is coated in a black rubber protective jacket. You really can't miss it.
