Clutch release question

When I release the clutch, I am noticing that the pedal doesn't come all the way back to the stop sometimes. When it doesn't I hear a rattling/clicking noise until I pull the pedal towards me about 1/4".

Is there a way to adjust this?

Thanks!

There is a biggo spring under neath your feet which suppose to assist your clutch pedal to come back up. There is an alen bolt to adjust the level of how much it can come back up. On mine, the spring came loose. You might want to take the carpet/panel off to take a look in there.

After you determine that the Clutch pedal return spring is OK, there are a few more things to consider. When you step on the clutch pedal, the motion is transfered to a shaft through a roll pin. When the roll pin starts to go, you get the same symptom you describe, then a crunchy pedal, then a bang, then no clutch. I would get under the car and check the adjustment at the gearbox to see if it is correct. Then remove the floor board and watch the arm at the end of the clutch cross shaft where the cable connects. If you can move the pedal any degree without the arm moving, the pin is shearing. The pedal box has to come out to replace the pin and usually new bushings and the arm can be worn oval. I have had this experience on several 911's, you can drive without a clutch using second and the starter at lights, but it takes practice. If the pin is shearing only use the factory part, aftermarket pins are weaker.
