Do i put a m & k pre-muffler or leave my cat on??

My car runs great, I have an 87 with stock 3.2 except for a Steve Wong chip. I am thinking about replacing my cat with an M & K pre-muffler, it is the original cat and looks clear when you shine a light through it. Am I going to notice much of a difference in power, with the pre-muffler and a re-program of the chip. It is hard to decide whether to cause a little pollution to run a little stronger. Thanks JL

I have a 87 911 that is all stock except a Wong Chip, Fab Speed Cat By-pass and M@K 1 in 1 out and Just love it, Sounds great, performs well and not too loud. Have fun.

the funny thing is that a bunch of folks have comented to me there cars still pass smog with the premuffler on a carrera. And yes you will notice a difference but I am biased

Go for it. I swapped out my cat for a pre-muffler and was blown away by the difference it made. I bought my SW chip a few months before I pulled out the cat, but had it programmed for a non cat set up. The first drive I took with the chip, sans cat was like driving a brand new car. Again, go for it.

I may go the same route.

Do you all like Fabspeed for cat bypass/exhaust setups, or are there better choices?

Fab speed has questionable orgins and I think that is what people dislike the most about them. You must also remember that I own(M&K Exhaust) a US manufacturer of porsche exhaust so Fabspeed is my competitor so I am biased

good luck with your search and now I will excuse myself to not cloud the search

Sorry, I didn't know you manufactured exhausts. Hope I haven't caused any offense.

I'm new to P-cars and am just feeling my way around the aftermarket.
