MegaSquirt w/ Smart Racing Hall Sensor?

Anyone running Megasquirt on their 911 and using Smart Racing Products Hall sensor http://www.smartracingproducts.com/pdfdocs/118300_hallcranksensor.pdf and pulley setup.

Looking for some info on setup configuration and wiring.

Thanks

Av,

You should read this:

http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/pickups.htm

Just send the output signal to pin 24.

THe software setup is here

Yep, have read and read many times. Signal wire is going to Pin 24 via Relay Panel. Current voltage source from TPS source and grounded via Relay panel though sensor ground.

Curious if anyone is using this sensor and what the are doing about the SmartRP instructions requiring 8v vs 5v or 12v. Also how they are configuring in Megatune or Tunerstudio.

Thanks

I suspect that the electronics have a built in regulator to run the amplifiers inside the system. If its a 7805 (5V regulator) they typically will regulate in a range from 6.5V up to 18V or so. Although I don't know for sure if 8V is an absolute requirements, I suspect that it might be a minimum.

If this is a hard requirement for 8V into the system you will need to install an 8V regulator. I don't know if any 8V output on the MS board. If you have the V3.0 board you could build it in the proto area. Your relay board is another optional location.

What about using a GM or other brand of Hall sensor that will run on 12 or 5V? You could also build your own with a few $ in parts.

Yep 6.5v to 16v you are correct, found this out today. 12v source will work but need a source that will not spike.

Might need to install a pull resistor as well.

Just solder in a 100uf capacitor between each of the three leads. This will buffer any spikes and prevent oscillations in the regulator.

The voltage output in my car is really stable. I do not pick up any spikes in the voltage datalogs. Strangely, the TPS picks up ignition noise but no other sensors. I guess I need to shield the wires though its not a problem running speed density.

Would you by any chance have a diagram of how you did that. I think I know what is ment but since capacitors wired in wrong can explode I just want to be sure. Thanks
