1976 2.7 oil leak

Im new to the Porasche scene. I just rescued my Grandpas 911 from the salvage yard. I thought the car was long gone since He passed over 20 years ago. His step grandson, had the car and was trying donate to sum half way house.
Any way, I drove the car to L.A. From New Mexico, with no major problems. The car is all original except for the exhaust.
Here is my problem I dont no much about the car, but im not getting rid of it.
I have an oil leak coming from the oil cooler just over the right heat exchanger. The oil seeps through fins of the cooler.
Is the cooler bad? How do i test? Can the cooler be repaired?

Oil cooler leaks are not uncommon but without more detailed information about your car such as mileage, anything further would simply be a guess.

If the cooler itself is leaking, it must be replaced as there is no effective way to fix those.

There are three little seals on the oil cooler that can leak. Also, there a couple of common leaks above the oil cooler on the top of the engine (in back) that leak down and over the oil cooler. All of the mentioned seals are cheap, just take a little work to get at them.

You say the oil is coming from the fins? If that is true the leak is likely from the oil thermostat or the sender unit back there oil will seep under the shroud and out on top of the cooler I have had that leak before and that is exactly how it flowed it was like the air flow pulled the oil in. You can use an inspection mirror to confirm (carefully !!!!) while the engine is running provided you dont have all the stuff on top of the engine. To do the thermostat oring correctly will require pulling the injection system off to get at it. I tried it without doing that and cut the oring what a mess.

there is also a breather gasket and a drain line from the bottom of the CIS air cleaner housing that may leak over the oil cooler.

I noticed a very small amount at the end of the breather hose, so i extended it to by pass the heat exchanger.\
the oil coming thru the cooler is way too much oil to be coming from the breather.
Thanks.
oh yea, does anybody no what color green my car is and is it factory.

A
Anybody know if this is a standard color? is it factory, and what is the color. The paint is actualy in good condition, and im planning on putting a tail, that was sitting next to the car when i picked it up. I just want to make sure the color matches.
Will adding a tail (aftermarket) hurt the value of the car any?

The tail will have little effect on cost but most like the purity of the non tail design. .

This thread will show you where you may find the paint code for your car: Paint code location

To help isolate your oil leak, you should clean the engine as best you can to see if you can find the trail.

I used a mirror to try and find the leak but the only place i can see any oil is thru the fins on the cooler. Do i have to drop the motor to pull the cooler, and when i pull the cooler, is the oil thermostat easy to get to?

When I had my thermostat leak all I saw was wet grime around the thermostat the oil went under the shroud and down the cooler so it wasnt real obvious where the oil was coming from. You can remove the induction system from the motor and get to all of that and I think you can remove the engine tin on that side and get the cooler off. but you are talking probably the same amount of time to drop the motor as to remove the CIS because of all the hose connections and difficult angles to get to the back nuts. I dont know your experience level but it takes me about an hour and a half to drop the motor if I go slow and careful.
