Help! need oil cooler advise-please

Recently aquired a fender mounted oil cooler for my 77 targa. Upon cleaning it found that the threads on one of the connection for the hoses is almost completely gone except for the last three row of threads. I looked at the threaded adapters that are used as a fix in these types of problems, but i don't think the last three row of threads will be enough to get a good seal. Does anyone know of a source where the oil radiator can be sent and be repaired by replacing the whole connection part that is welded on? I quess I could clean whats there and use a metal setting epoxy to do a perminate fix of the adapter to the oil cooler, but if this happens again! Please help!!!

Any competent race shop/fabricator could probably fix. A pic of the cooler and your hometown would help.

I live in Virginia near Roanoke and I don't know of anyone here that I've tried so far that is capable of doing the repair. One side of the oil cooler inlet is almost devoid of threads except maybe the last three row of threads. I'm afraid the available repair adapter thats available on the market just won't cut it.

elephant racing sells big mouth connectors that can replace the ones you have now. I had a radiator repaired and flushed at a company that did this service for small airplanes.

If the threads aren't repairable, one option is to weld on a replacement. An AN-spec weld-on adapter is probably easier to source than a DIN-spec aluminum weld adapter.

With an AN adapter, one would need an AN-to-DIN adapter to connect to the factory oil line. Very doable. The alternative is a new oil cooler.

Thanks fellas for all the feedback on helping me address this problem. I'm still new to the board here and have gained a great deal of knowledge from you all. Any additional suggestions are always appreciated. George
