71 911T (d series) question

This is a 71T no sunroof coupe. red book says its a Karman built car. what does this mean, karmann? would this be any car to restore??

Karmann built the body. a regular practice in those days. not particularly special.
a T is not so special either.
but bringing a 71T back to life is special if its matching numbered engine and chassis.
any longhood (particularly with matching numbers) brought back to original spec is a golden nugget for the soul and a great loooong term investment. IMHO

does the red book cross-ref the engine and chassis nrs on your car?

to answer your question: as opposed to 356's, chassis manufacturer on longhood 911s is less of an issue and not a huge pot of gold just because it's a karmann built unit alone.
