New Summer Toy! Another 9 eleven

Well, I have been hearing about this 911 that has been sitting in my area for about 3 years now and finally tracked it down and contacted the owner. The car is a 1985 911 carrera that started died about 4 years ago. On his last ride it was running good and then started acting up and then would not start after he parked it for the winter. (dme relay is the problem). Ordered some pelican parts today and will have it on the road by next weekend. Here it is.
A 1985 Porsche Carrera 911 coupe (sunroof), metallic brown in color with brown interior, 100k miles. This is the new project!!! Will keep you all posted.

Nice car. Did you steal it from the guy? Bet you will pay more attention to it & take better care of it than he did. Have fun!

wow great colour and looks in nice original condition - get some hide food on those leather seats to keep them nice and supple so they don't split!

Thanks for the kind words guys!!! It is really a very nice original example of a well taken care of 911. I have never had the chance to drive this new of a 911 but I am definetly excited to see how the 3.2 performs. The previous owner seemed to be pretty particular about keeping the car clean and tidy, the pictures are no more than him pulling the cover off after 3 years and me putting it on the trailer, it should look real nice after we buff it and put a coat of wax on it. All in all, should be a nice summer driver!!!

Well, previous owner was sick of trying to figure out why his car wouldn't run, 4 years later, sells it to me. I tossed in a new DME Relay and she lives again. Took it for the first ride last night and its all a success!!! Thanks to pelican and its members for all the good/needed info to keep these cars on the road!!!

Odd I thought dme relays were go no go. I did not realize they could cause spitting and sputtering? I am not familiar with the later injection cars so could be completely wrong.

Looks like a great car. Strip a few hundred pounds out and it will be a blast....might be to nice to hot rod though???

I did not experience any of the problems he discribed, other than a no start condition. It is running good considering there is some left over 4 year old gas in the tank...I will get the rest of it out and use it to varnish some wood work at the house. Its a nice car...but never to nice to hot rod out!!!
