door keeps opening.

Hi guys. My 911 drivers door keeps popping out open on the road even when i lock it. It's bugging the crap out of me and was wondering how I can fix it. Everytime I drive it it pops out in the middle of the road. Has anyone had this problem and how do I fix it? Thanks.

you have not mentioned what year it is. But it sounds like the door latch is broken anyway.
You can do a quick test of the latch by leaving the door open, twisting the latch to the lock position and with a set of pliers wiggle it up/down and see if it releases. If it does move while trying to wiggle then it is broken ! If it releases its broken

you can post on the parts area a wanted ad and i am sure many here have what you may need

caveat: we have seen severe rusted chassis cases where the car twists going over bumps or in turns and the door pops open- even with a good latch!
Hopefully that is not the case with your car

When was the last time you hard your door card off to lube all the internals? Maybe something is sticking, could be as simple as that.....hopefully. I know I had a similar problem with water getting in and freezing. The door would just not latch close at all. It would just release, something was frozen open. Lube and a hair dryer took care of it all.

Having trouble w/this myself. Took the door panel off and found second latch tooth was rounded, so I hit it with a dremal to sharpen the point of latch. This worked great for month or so.
Later, when I shut the door it wouldn't latch everytime, and would bounce open. So, I sprayed some teflon spray all over the latch. Now I get the same popping open again when I hit bumps.
It's a 73 Targa, so body twist is a thought but I replaced rockers and dogleg 2 years ago, and don't see any other signs that things are moving?
My next try will be to replace the spring that holds the latch latched.
Suprised I can't find more threads about this.
