73.5T to flare or not to flare

I use my T as a DE car. I currently run 225 50 15s on 7s all around. I have some 8s and a set of SC flares. Is it worth flaring to run 225 on 8s? I like the look so maybe that's enough motivation? But I also like all 4 tires the same so I can rotate to equalize tire wear. Maybe flare and run spacers and keep the 7s? Oh what to do!? All opinions will be appreciated.

Do lap times really matter at a DE other than to show personal progress? Would you have more fun after the time and expense to flare the car?

I think NO is the answer to both questions.

I vote to keep it narrow and get some custom offset wheels that let you stuff the 225s under. Think 951 offset 15x8 or similar.

Vary wary of chopping up early cars (as said above). But it may already be too chopped to be worth saving?

If you have damage to the quarters where you will need to do repairs, then flaring is an option. If the body is solid leave it. Narrow cars are becoming harder to find. JMO

Keep it narrow (7R's) unlesss you're going to do a full-on ST style conversion.

I have flares on my '73.5.

With the values of long-hooded cars climbing, at some point, somebody is going to wonder who the idiot was that cut up an original tub.

For long-term value, leave it as is.

That being said, I couldn't be happier with my 3.2 powered Hooligan.

Mine has flares with nines in the rear. I bought the tub, as is and did the rest.
